Flight time UK to Dubai: real times

How long is the flight from the UK to Dubai really? Direct and connecting times from the major UK airports, plus what to set up before you fly.

By Simfiy Editorial Team

Dubai is one of the most popular long-haul routes from the UK — both as a destination and a stopover to Asia and Australia. Here's what to expect from the journey.

Direct flight times

  • London (Heathrow / Gatwick) to Dubai: around 6 hours 50 minutes to 7 hours 30 minutes.
  • Manchester to Dubai: around 7 hours.
  • Birmingham, Glasgow & Newcastle: roughly 7 to 7.5 hours direct where available.

Return flights to the UK often feel slightly longer (around 7.5–8 hours) thanks to headwinds. Times vary with aircraft, route and conditions.

Connecting flights

From regional airports without a direct service, you'll usually connect via a European or Middle Eastern hub. Total journey time then ranges from about 9 to 13 hours depending on the layover.

The time difference

Dubai is 3 hours ahead of UK time in winter and 3 hours ahead in summer (the UAE doesn't use daylight saving). It's a manageable shift, so jet lag is usually mild.

Before you fly

Install a Simfiy UAE or Global eSIM before departure. The moment you land in Dubai, you'll connect automatically — ready for ride-hailing, maps and messaging without hunting for airport Wi-Fi or paying roaming fees.
