How to set up eSIM offline

A connection-issue solution guide for iOS & Android devices. Work through each check below if your eSIM isn’t connecting.

Have you added the eSIM to your phone?

You might not have added the eSIM to your phone yet. To add it, go to your eSIM details and tap “Add Now”. You’ll find the QR code and manual installation details on the pop-up screen — you can use either method to add it to your device. If you’re not sure how, tap “installation instructions” on the installation screen and follow our detailed tutorial.

Have you selected the added eSIM as a data source?

You might not have selected the added eSIM as your mobile data source. Check this in your phone’s settings. On iOS, go to Settings > Cellular and select the added eSIM as your cellular data source. On Android, go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs and set the simfiy eSIM for Mobile data.

Have you enabled international roaming for the added eSIM?

You might not have enabled international roaming for the added eSIM. On iOS, go to Settings > Cellular, tap the added eSIM in the SIMs section, and turn on Data Roaming. On Android, go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs, select the eSIM, and enable Roaming. Roaming must be on for the eSIM to connect abroad.

Does your account have io Balance?

You might not have topped up your io Balance, or it might have run out. To top up, tap the top right corner of your account screen or go to My Account > io Balance and add the amount you wish. Keep in mind that io Balance does not expire, so there’s no need to worry about unused balance.
