Device compatibility

To use a Simfiy eSIM, your phone needs two things: it must support eSIM, and it must be carrier-unlocked. Here's how to check both in under a minute.

The two requirements

1. eSIM support

Your device has the hardware to store a digital SIM profile. Most phones released from 2018 onward qualify.

2. Carrier-unlocked

Your phone is not locked to a single network. If you bought it on a carrier contract, ask them to confirm it is unlocked.

Commonly supported devices

Apple iPhone

iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and every model since, including all iPhone SE (2020+), iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 series.

Google Pixel

Pixel 3 and later (Pixel 3 / 3 XL through the latest Pixel and Pixel Fold). Note: some early carrier-specific Pixel 3 units shipped without eSIM.

Samsung Galaxy

Galaxy S20 and later, recent Note and A-series flagships, and foldables such as Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip.

Other brands

Many recent Motorola, Huawei, Oppo, Sony, and other flagships support eSIM. Always confirm in your device settings — see the steps below.

This list is not exhaustive. Manufacturers add eSIM support to new models all the time, and some regional variants differ — for example, certain iPhone models sold in mainland China have a physical dual-SIM tray instead of an eSIM. When in doubt, check your device settings using the steps below.

Check on iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open Settings Cellular (or Mobile Service).
  2. If you see Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan, your iPhone supports eSIM.
  3. To confirm it is unlocked, open Settings General About and look for No SIM restrictions under Carrier Lock.

Check on Android

  1. Open Settings Network & internet (or Connections on Samsung).
  2. Tap SIMs or SIM manager and look for Add eSIM or Download a SIM instead.
  3. Alternatively, dial *#06# — if an EID number appears, your device has eSIM hardware.
  4. For unlock status, check with your carrier or look under SIM settings for a network-lock indicator.

Coverage

A compatible phone still needs a plan that covers your destination. Each plan page lists the countries and networks it includes — check coverage before you buy.
